A lion, a tiger

Tiger Woods. His apology was funny. I wonder if Elin is taking him back for the money. It's amazing how quickly people get bored of these scandals- Letterman's own scandal is still pretty fresh! I wonder if Tiger means it- or is he secretly pissed that he can no longer romance the ladies behind his wife's back- I bet a bit of both.

Tiger- go back to Buddhism and focus on golf!

The Char

It is almost the weekend!

Awesome!

Here is a picture of Siamese kittens to celebrate....haha

My own Siamese cat is almost 8 months old. Her name is Charlotte, but she has several ridiculous nicknames:

1) Charlemagne
2) Charletton
3) "Fupa" -thanks to Brad. She has a slight belly. But don't worry, we have switched her from fatty kitten food to adult food!
4) Monkey
5) The Char
6) Junior Chocolate Face (this will switch to Genuine when she is fully grown)
7) Muffin
8) Squeaker -her meows don't even sound like they are coming from a cat. She sounds like a duck. It's cute.

She's a little alarm clock who jumps right out of the sock drawer where she sleeps, and gets me out of bed nice and early so that she can sucker me into snuggling with her on the couch for 10 minutes before I get in the shower. She loves to play and has an insane amount of energy. She really likes licking our faces and especially my hair. She always uses her scratching post.

All in all...best Christmas gift ever!

Got my mojo working

It's Friday!

Brad got home from Guns N Roses last night at 3am. I did not wake up at all when he came in, or used the bathroom that is directly beside the bedroom, or got into bed. I hope no one ever breaks in to our house. Crazy Axl Rose takes FOREVER to perform...two opening acts, and the dude still didn't come on until 11:30!

I was just told a story by a friend of mine about this band. Now, I've read a bit of Slash's biography, and so I know a teeny bit about the lives of the band. Slash and Axl haven't spoken since 1996 when Slash left the band- and things only got worse when Slash discussed the feud in his biography.

Apparently Axl is broke. He put out the album Chinese Democracy in 2008, and tours only to cover the debts that he has- no one from the original GNR actually plays in the current touring band. This seems sad. Maybe he still enjoys performing, and maybe he really does hate Slash- but what happens to all those years of friendship? I wonder if it really is impossible to have normal relationships and friendships while living that crazy lifestyle- the lack of sleep, chaotic scheduling, easy access to drugs and alcohol and girls, plus trying to write music together and keep your creative flow along the same lines...look at John and Paul, or David Byrne and the rest of the Talking Heads. Seems rather difficult to keep everyone happy and keep everything going forward. Good thing I have zero musical talent.

Anyway, I distracted myself from the original story I was going to pass on. Axl has apparently damaged his throat/body to the point where he needs to use an oxygen mask during his shows. A friend of mine saw the band perform in Halifax, and from where his seats were he managed to see inside the little makeshift room that was at the side of the stage where Axl would run "about 6-7 times during each song" to inhale the oxygen. Those screams must take a lot out of him.

Lately I've been listening to Al Green, Joe Tex...I love the Sirius station B.B. King's Bluesville. It's so relaxing after work...I didn't know much about the blues until a year or two ago, when I heard my mom playing B.B. King's BLUES ON THE BAYOU...and I loved it. Which scares me because I seem to be developing a very similar taste in music to my mother, with exception to her love of Leonard Cohen and Bruce Springsteen (just can't get into it!). Then I bought myself some Muddy Waters, which is amazing to play in the hot summer evenings while relaxing outside on the patio...those are some boys having a good time!

There's something comforting and thrilling at the same time about listening to the blues. To me it just feels like good, old-fashioned music with artists who are full of talent, not to mention emotion, heartache, and passion for what they do- and makes me feel super sexy while I'm listening to it!! Or maybe that's the glass of wine that's ususally accompanying the music. Who knows. I am excited to keep listening and learning to the blues, and discover even more about it. Now I see why so many rockers were influenced by these guys...the Rolling Stones for example, who openly use these rhythms to bring a great, bluesy undertone to a lot of their songs...I love the Shine a Light track when Buddy Guy comes out and plays a song with them.
Now...time for work.

OMG, that looks FANTASTIC on you!

I have decided to start this first post with a complaint. I really and truly dislike in-your-face, peppy, loudmouth salespeople in retail! Now I understand that I do at the moment work in sales, but I really try to speak in my normal voice and not talk to people like they are complete morons. Everywhere I go lately, either chubby girls with too much makeup on or women in their 40's-50's with too much makeup on seem to be hounding me with new products, sales, and basically not letting me shop in peace.

I have compiled a short list of recent offenders:

1) THE BODY SHOP
This place has really been getting my goat lately. I basically avoid going in there now, as I have basically been accosted the last 5 times I have attempted to shop in there, usually fleeing within three minutes, gasping for air and vowing that is the last time. I have replaced all my old Body Shop products with Biotherm, Aveeno, or simply Dove soap. I've also somewhat recently noticed that the older I get, the shitter I am finding their products to be. The only thing I really like buying from there is their chamomile eye makeup remover, which I unfortunately cannot find a decent replacement for (ideas welcome!).
I have an awesome strategy for that though- I know exactly where the stuff is located, and so I beeline toward it, avoid eye contact with anyone, and am at the counter before the fat beauty queens can even blink an eye. Perfection.

2) The Wine Shop
I desperately try never, ever to buy wine from these little Canadian wine stops. Mostly because I can't stand the taste of 99% of Canadian reds, unless they're going for about $50 a bottle. I know the super trendy thing to do lately is "Go Local", but if I wanted to drink weird tasting grape juice I'd buy it from a can thank you very much! I'm not a wine snob but I know when my wine tastes like crap. Sorry, Ontario.
Anyway- my other grievance is that the same woman seems to be working at every location I go into in Ajax. I guess they rotate. Of course this lady means well, but I really don't need to be followed around the little store being told how amazing their $11 bottle of Hillenbrand merlot is. I also don't need to stand around for 10 minutes after I've already purchased whatever desperation bottle I've come there for, being told how this one customer thought she was married to one of her co-workers because she saw them hugging each other but really they are both married to OTHER people and HA HA HA isn't that hilarious? NO IT'S NOT! GIVE ME MY CHEAP RIESLING AND LET ME OUT OF THIS VORTEX!

3) 'S Waitresses
Although I try to avoid eating at these establishments, when you're living in Ajax sometimes you just plain run out of options and succumb to the easiest route. Almost every time I eat at one of the 'S restaurants (Casey's, Jack Astor's, Montana's, etc), I am forced to deal with the giggling, peppy, annoying teenage behaviour of these waitresses. Do they get a bonus for being that perky for the entire evening? Give me my 2nd rate veggie burger and sweet potato fries and get out of my face, "hun".

Well...that's that.

I'm sure I could come up with more examples, but that is the gist- I have a newfound great respect for servers/retail personnel who are just simply polite, efficient, and calm. I think I would even take surly over the above.
